Professor Liam Kennedy

Liam Kennedy is Professor of American Studies and Director of the Clinton Institute at University College Dublin. His research interests include American cultural and media studies, political communications, and Irish-US relations. Recent book publications include Trump’s America (2020) and The Routledge International Handbook of Diaspora Diplomacy (2022). He is currently researching a book on the future of Irish America. Liam is co-founder and -editor of America Unfiltered, a media platform focused on contemporary American politics, foreign policy and media.

Professor Diane Negra

Diane Negra is Professor of Film Studies and Screen Culture at University College Dublin. A member of the Royal Irish Academy, she is the author, editor or co-editor of twelve books including The Aesthetics and Affects of Cuteness (Routledge, 2016) and Interrogating We in the Age of I: Romance and Social Bonding in Contemporary Culture (Routledge, 2021). Her work in media, gender and cultural studies has been widely influential and recognized with a range of research awards and fellowships. She serves as Co-Editor-in- Chief of Television and New Media and Chair of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland.

Dr. Eugenio Lilli

Dr Eugenio Lilli lectures in US Foreign Policy and Cyber Security and is the programme leader for the MA in American Politics and Foreign Policy. His current research sits at the intersection of cyber technologies and global affairs. He has written about the impact of advancements in cyber on traditional international relations issues such as national security, defense strategy, diplomacy, and foreign policy. Earlier publications cover issues of US foreign policy toward the Middle East, democracy promotion, and international terrorism. In 2021, he founded the International Studies and Emerging Technologies working group within the British International Studies Association; the first working group of its kind in Europe.


As part of his international outreach engagement, he has presented his work at events organized by the United Nations in Geneva and by US Strategic Command in the United States. Previously, he lectured at King’s College London (2015-16), at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, part of the UK Defence Academy (2011-13), and at John Cabot University in Rome (2016). He holds a PhD from King’s College London, War Studies Department.

Full Biography

Professor Scott Lucas

Professor Scott Lucas specializes in historical and contemporary US and international politics; media and propaganda; intelligence services; and culture and politics. Professor Emeritus of International Politics at the University of Birmingham in the UK, he pursued teaching and research projects with the Clinton Institute since 2006 before formally joining the staff in September 2022.

Professor Lucas is the author of more than 90 academic books and articles. A journalist since the age of 16, he is the founder and editor of EA WorldView (www.eaworldview.com), a leading site for news and analysis of international politics from the US to Syria to Iran to Ukraine.

Manager

Catherine Carey

Catherine Carey is the Manager of the Clinton Institute. She received her BA in Politics and Economics from UCD and her MBS from the Michael J. Smurfit School of Business, UCD. After graduation, she was Programme Manager for the national music development organisation Music Network.

She subsequently moved to RTÉ, where she was Regional Manager for the Music Division, with special responsibility for regional promotion and development for the RTÉ Symphony and Concert orchestra. In November 2002, she was appointed Manager of the Clinton Institute.

Trainer, CNN Academy

Alireza Haji Hosseini

Alireza Haji Hosseini is Director of the CNN Academy. He has worked in international news for more than a decade. He began his career in Tehran right after graduating from McGill University in Montreal. He then moved to London where he worked for Al Jazeera English during its heyday during the Arab Spring revolutions before moving to CNN International where up until recently he was Executive Producer for Connect the World with Becky Anderson based out of the network's regional broadcasting hub in Abu Dhabi.

Trainer, CNN Academy

Luke Henderson

Luke Henderson is a Senior Trainer with CNN Academy. He has worked for rolling news channels for more than two decades. He began his career at Sky News after graduating from Leeds University in the United Kingdom. Luke worked at the heart of Sky’s breaking news operation including traveling to Phuket after the tsunami in 2004 to help the channel anchor its entire output from Thailand. He moved to CNN International in 2009 where he was a Senior Producer for Connect the World with Becky Anderson and The World Right Now with Hala Gorani. Luke relocated to Atlanta, USA in 2016 where he took on the role of Supervising Producer, overseeing much of CNN International’s dayside and overnight programming.
