Media & Conflict

This workshop will focus on the roles of media in the making and representation of war and violent conflict. It introduces critical debates on the relationship between media and conflict and includes focus on:

human rights and terror
The role of new technologies in mediating conflict
The ethical and legal functions of images as evidentiary representations of human suffering
The role of new technologies and technological convergence in depicting conflict
The visual economies that translate and regulate the value (cultural and economic) of images of conflict and suffering
