About Dublin City

Dublin was founded in the early ninth century when Vikings made their largest settlement outside of Scandinavia. In the early 20th century, it established its own identity and is today considered a young, modern & cosmopolitan city which is rich in history and proud of its past.

It is a special place where tradition and cultural heritage has merged seamlessly over the centuries to create an atmosphere simply unique to Dublin. Renowned world wide as a city of writers and literature and home to such literary greats as Joyce, Shaw, Wilde, Beckett, O’Casey and many others.

It also is home to some of Ireland’s largest musical exports including U2, Sinead O’Connor and the Chieftains. Dublin is a city that brings together a glimpse of an ancient civilisation, a cultural feast, a musical odyssey and some stunning scenery.
